Exceptional mental-health support for students

As a district we must educate the “whole” child, which includes forward-thinking strategies for the mental health of our students. As an expert in this field, I can connect our superintendents and principals with quality resources that will benefit all students. This can include enrichment and supplemental programming for all students, not prohibited by costs.

Restorative justice discipline policies

Restorative justice practices put students on a path of long-term success and while we often hear of these practices used in high schools, being proactive and giving students the skills to manage their emotions and solve problems will in turn yield more positive results as they approach high school and beyond.

Equitable resources for all students

All students deserve the resources needed to ensure they succeed regardless of your household income, zip code, native language, or abilities. Providing a differentiated and fair approach to the consideration of resources is critical to our district because of our diversity. My classroom experience and expertise in classroom management give me the unique perspective to understand how resources should be allocated across the spectrum of needs.

Inclusive & anti-racist curriculum and pedagogy

The curriculum that is supported by our district must be representative of the students who live there. We cannot celebrate women, Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and LGBTQIA people in isolation. Rather the content we support must normalize and include all representations of people to ensure that our students see themselves within their curriculum.

Amplify voices and support teachers, students and families

We, as a board, must continually support the voices of our teachers, students, and parents. For teachers we need to  consider their needs alongside our students to ensure that students are getting teachers who are not only willing to put forth every bit of their effort to ensure their success, but can do so with ease because they have the support of the community.

Strengthen the relationship between Skokie governmental agencies and 68

Skokie is a unique village with several school boards. While the autonomy we each have can yield remarkable results, it can sometimes create disconnect. Through conversations with community members, it is clear that a stronger relationship with the village, library, and park could further the impact of the 68 board. As a board member, I will prioritize fostering these relationships.
